SETOSA var. CILIATA (Moran) Moran, 1993  (engl./ fr.)

Synonym : Echeveria ciliata  Moran (1961)

 

Type : Moran 6395, collected 17 Nov 1957 on north- and east-facing volcanic cliffs at 2100 m, Cañada de Tutla, 13.5 km NWN of Tamazulapam, Oaxaca.

 

Distribution : Mexico (Oaxaca : Type locality and vicinity).

 

 

Description by Reid Moran :

 

Caudex 1 – 2 cm thick, often unbranched.

 

Rosettes 5 – 13 cm wide, of 30 – 100 leaves.

 

Leaves green 1 – 2 times longer than wide, obovatae-cuneate, with lower margins straight to incurved, obtuse and mucronate, 2.5 – 6 cm long, 15 – 37 mm wide above, 5 – 8 mm wide at base, 5 – 9 mm thick, ciliate on keel near apex and on margins nearly to base, the surface glabrous or with a few scattered hairs or less commonly sparsely hirsute.

 

Floral stems 6 – 27 cm tall, 3 – 6 mm thick, densely hirsute, with 7 – 25 leaves, the leaves 8 – 25 mm long, 4 – 11 mm wide, 2 – 7 mm thick, ciliate on margins and keel or sometimes hirsute except ventrally at base.

 

Cincinni 3 – 14 (-24)-flowered, the pedicels hirsute, the lower 6 – 35 mm long. Calyx disk 4 – 6 mm wide, the segments 5 – 9 mm long, 2 – 5 mm wide, sparsely hirsute dorsally, subglabrous ventrally, corolla 10 – 16 mm long, 6.5 – 10 mm thick, hirsute on exposed parts.

Distribution : Mexique (Oaxaca : sud-ouest de Huajuapan).


Différences par rapport à la var. setosa :

Rosette 5 – 13 cm de diamètre, ramifiée.

Feuilles obovales-cunées, obtuses, mucronées, 2,5 – 6 x 1,5 – 3,7 cm de large en haut, 5 – 9 mm d'épaisseur, vertes, marges et quille ciliées, surface glabre ou légèrement hirsute.

Inflorescence avec cincinni portant 3 -14 (jusqu'à 24) fleurs, pédicelles de 6 – 35 mm.

Fleurs : Corolle 10 – 16 x 6,5 – 10 mm de diamètre.
