Distribution: Nothern Vietnam; rocks, 1900 - 2700 m.

 

 

Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :

 

Perennial glabrous herbs.

 

Stems forming lax tufts, 6 - 15 cm long, few-branched above, ascending to creeping and basally rooting.

 

Leaves densely arranged, altemate, ascending, 4 - 8 (-9.5) x 0.5 – 1.5 mm, lanceolate to linear, somewhat flattened, acute, sessile, basally with a 3-lobed spur

 

Flowering stems few-branched.

 

Inflorescences cymose, terminal, 3 - 4.5 cm in diameter, 10- to 15-flowered, pedicels 0.5 - 3 mm.

 

Flowers 5-merous, 1.5 - 2 cm in diameter, sepals subequal, 4 - 4.5 x 0.6 - 0.85 mm, slightly shorter than the petals, linear-lanceolate, petals 6.8 - 7.2 mm, free, linear-Ianceolate, acute, yellow.

 

Compared with S. nothodugueyi and several related taxa in the protologue. - (U.Eggli)
