ERIOCARPUM ssp. CARICUM (Carlström) 't Hart, 1996

Synonym : Sedum caricum Carlström (1985).

 

Distribution : Greece (Rhodos, East Aegean Islands), South western Turkey ; serpentine.

 

 

Description (according to IHSP 2003) :

 

Small, compact, almost glabrous or upper parts sparsely glandular-pubescent.

 

Leaves oblong to ovate-elliptic, obtuse, terete to subterete, to 15 mm, glaucous-green.

 

Inflorescences with 4 - 6 branches.

 

Petals lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, white, often with reddish keel, anthers red or bright red.

 

Cytology: 2n = 20.

 

 

 

 

Sedum eriocarpum subsp. caricum is a serpentine endemic, here photographed in the Taurus Mountains near Agla (southern Turkey).
