Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :

 

Glabrous annual herbs with erect stems to 18 cm tall, simple or branched in the upper part.

 

Leaves alternate, sessile, subterete or semiterete, linear-oblong, obtuse, 2,5 x 2 mm.

 

Inflorescences lax cymes with 2 or more branches (cincinni), bracts small or absent, pedicels filiform, 4 - 8 mm.

 

FIowers 6-merous, ovoid or sub-globular in bud, sepals broadly sessile, basally connate, semi-orbicular or broadly ovate, ± 1 mm, obtuse, petals basally slightly connate, lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, ± 3 mm, acuminate, yellow, filaments yellow, glabrous, anthers yellow.

 

Close to S. pubescens and S. versicolor.
