Sedum

LAHOVARYANUM Hamet, 1913

THIS IS NOT A SEDUM SPECIES !

Description of the flowers :

Sepals connate for 4 mm, free portion 5 – 5.5 cm long, 1.4 – 1.83 cm wide,

petals connate for 1 mm, free portion 6.5 cm long, 2.6 cm wide.

Quite obviously, this cannot possibly be a Sedum species at all !

Nevertheless in Las Crasuláceas de México, vol. II, 2019, the author Jorge Meyrán Garcia has revived the name and classified S. lahovaryanum as a subspecies of S. wrightii. This recombination is complete nonsense and clearly reveals lack of knowledge of the facts – quite obviously Meyrán has neither looked up Hamet's description nor has he consulted 't Hart & Bleij's treatment of genus Sedum in Illustrated Handbook of Succulent Plants, p. 237, 2003.
