Distribution : Western Canada (British Columbia), western USA (Washington, Oregon, California): Pacific Coast Ranges, to 1590m.
Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :
Primary rosette 2.5 - 3.7 cm in diameter, with 1 – 2 offsets per rosette, stems of offsets 1.3 - 1.9 mm in diameter.
Leaves 1.4 – 2.1 mm thick, glaucous.
FIowers 12 - 16 mm in diameter.
The cultivar S. spathulifolium 'Aureum' is hardly pruinose, the overall colour of the leaves is buff-yellow.
