Distribution : Russia, (eastern Caucasus: Dagestan). 

 

 

Description (according to 't Hart, Bleij & Zonneveld in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Rosettes 3 - 5 cm in diameter

 

Leaves lanceolate, acuminate, shortly glandular-pubescent, dark green, dorsally very slightly purple, with a dark purple tip, 15 – 38 mm.

 

Flowering branches 7 - 10 (-12) cm, unequally glandular-pubescent, cauline leaves broadened at the base, slightly narrowed from the middle.

 

Inflorescence corymbose-umbellate, 20- to 25-flowered.

 

FIowers 11-merous, 2 – 2.3 cm in diameter, pedicels glandular-pubescent, unequal, to 10 mm, sepals linear-lanceolate, suberect, acuminate, shortly pubescent ventrally, unequally glandular-pubescent dorsally, petals Iinear-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous ventrally, incurved, intensely purple, rarely reddish white marginally, glossy, filaments dark purple, anthers pale purple, rarely orange.

 

Close to S. pumilum.
