Distribution : Turkey (E Anatolia), NW Iran and Azerbaijan, probably also in Armenia; growing on igneous rocks or grassy slopes, (550-) 1500 - 3100 m.

 

Description (according to F.Karaer, 2011) :

Rosettes 2 - 4 cm in diameter, stolons 1 - 4.

Leaves obovate-oblong-lanceolate-spatulate, ca 15 - 30 x 5 - 15 mm, carinate, mucronate, grey-green with pruple tips, densely glandular-pubescent with some longer stiff hairs at the leaf tips, margins ciliate.

Cauline leaves oblong-lanceolate to oblong, mucronate, 10 - 25 x 3 - 10 mm, indumentum as in rosette leaves.

Inflorescences 15 - 35 cm tall, 15 - 40 flowered.

Flowers ca. (10-) 20 - 25 mm in diameter, (10-) 12 - 15 (-16)-merous, sepals ovate-lanceolate, 2 - 3.5 x 1.0 - 1.8 mm, glandular, petals linear-lanceolate, whitish-yellow, ca 6 - 10 x  0.8 - 2 mm, glandular hairy outside, filaments 20 - 50 whitish to pale yellow, glandular at the base, anthers bright yellow.

Flowering time : June - August.

According to Muirhead (1972: 247) related to S. transcaucasicum.
