Aeonium ×claperae Arango, Un nuevo híbrido natural de Tenerife (Islas Canarias), Vieraea 43: 329-330-334. (Dec) 2015.

Etym: Named for Mercedes Clapera, the wife of the author.

T: Islas Canarias, Tenerife, between Tijoco Alto & Barranco del Infierno, 960m; 6 Apr 2015, O. Arango s.n.(ex cult.).

HT: TFC 51.887.

IT: TFMC/PV7700.

 

Description :

 

Unbranched subshrub, monocarpic like A. pseudourbicum, 45 - 75 cm tall (incl. inflorescence).

Rosettes lax, 14 - 17 cm in diameter.

Leaves 6 - 9 x 2 - 2.5 cm, obovate-spatulate, shortly mucronate, puberulent, margins ciliate, green, tinged reddish on exposed parts.

Inflorescence paniculate, densely pubescent, 25 - 45 x 12 - 30 cm..

Flowers 8- to 10- merous, calyx densely glandular-pubescent, corolla 20 mm in diameter, petals pale yellow with reddish hues, margins slightly pubescent.

Flowering time : April - May

 

Distribution : Canary Islands :  SW Tenerife.

The hybrid is variable regarding leaf shape and cilia, however it is always unbranched.
