Etym: A Latin adjective, septentrionalis, northern.

Description :

Resembling A. undulatum but smaller.

Stem 2 - 4 cm thick, branching from the base as in A. undulatum, with aerial roots.

Rosettes 13 - 16 cm in diameter.

Leaves  7.5 - 11 x 2.5 - 4 cm, obovate-spatulate, acuminate, green with longitudinal reddish coloration above and below, margins thin, hyaline as in A. aureum, with small curved cilia 0.25 - 0.35 mm.

Inflorescence more or less conical, 10 - 14 cm tall and broad, glabrous however somewhat pubescent in apical part, pedicels 4 - 6 mm, puberulous.

Flowers 13-15-merous, 1.7 - 2 cm in diameter, calyx glabrous, petals 8 - 9 x 1.8 - 2 mm, yellow.

Flowering time : April.

Distribution :  Gran Canaria.
