Distribution : Peru (Lima, Ancash); on rocky slopes, 3500 - 4000 m.
Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :
Herbs.
Stems erect, basally branched, 16 - 21.5 cm, lateral branches short, densely leafy.
Leaves ovate-cylindrical, terete.
Inflorescences short racemes, erect, 8- to 12-flowered, pedicels of lower flowers short, otherwise absent.
Flowers : Sepals ovate-Ianceolate, green with paler margins, corolla somewhat tubular, petals linear-Ianceolate, acute, 1.5 x as long as the sepals, pale yellow or pale reddish, tube 1/2 – 1/3 of the petal length.
Cytology : n = 88-89
The spelling 'incanum' (Lat., ash-grey) is used in the protologue, but there is nothing grey mentioned for the plants, and the epithet was later corrected to 'incarum' in the errata.
