Synonym : Sedum atsaense  Fröderström (1943)

 

Type : Kingon-Ward 6161, Tibet

 

Subgenus Rhodiola, section Rhodiola

 

Etymology : for the occurrence at Atsa Pass, Tibet.

 

Distribution : Eastern Himalaya: India, Tibet; scree slopes, 4500 - 4900 m.

 

 

Description (by H. Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Dioecious, to 10 cm tall, rhizomes slender, cylindrical, 5 - 10 mm in diameter.

 

Flowering stems 2 - 3, 0.8 - 1 mm in diameter, glabrous.

 

Leaves sessile, spatulate, 12 - 24 x 2.5 - 4 mm, entire, glabrous, spreading, tip round, base long attenuate.

 

Inflorescence 10- to 30-flowered, pedicels to 1.5 mm, glabrous.

 

Flowers 4 - 8 mm in diameter, calyx 5 - 14.5 mm, tube 2 - 5.5 mm, sepals spatulate, 2.5 - 9 mm, petals inserted at the margin of the calyx-tube, spatulate, 2 – 7 mm, reddish-brown, nectar scales transversely oblong, 0.5 - 0.6 mm long, carpels 3 - 11.5 mm, each with 2 ovules, styles indistinguishable, fruit 5 - 15 mm, seeds ellipsoid, 3 - 3.2 mm, brown, longitudinally striate.
