Distribution : Eastern Himalaya (India [Kumaon], Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan), Tibet, Myanmar, south-western China.

Description (according to H. Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

Dioecious, variable in size, 15 - 50 cm taIl, rhizomes cylindrical, 1 - 2 cm in diameter.

Flowering stems 1 - 2, glabrous.

Leaves sessile, narrowly ovate to ovate or obovate, 1 - 6 x 0.4 - 4.5 cm, glabrous, tip round or obtuse, base cordate, margin entire.

Inflorescences 7- to 40-flowered, pedicels 0.2 - 1 cm, glabrous.

FIowers 4 - 7 mm in diameter; calyx 1.6 - 8 mm, glabrous, purplish-red, sepals 0.8 – 6 mm, narrowly oblong or oblong-ovate, petals dark purplish-red, obovate to lanceolate (male), narrowly oblong or narrowly oblong-ovate (female), 2.8 - 4 mm (female), spreading to somewhat reflexed (male) or ascending to spreading (female), stamens usually as long as the petals, anthers dark or dull purplish-red.

Here belongs Sedum discolor Franchet in the sense of Praeger (1921a) (as to type = Rhodiola discolor).
