Distribution: Cape Province from near Ladismith to Queenstown and East London; in a few localities in southern Natal.

 

 

Description (according to Tölken, 1985) :

 

Leaves oblanceolate to cultrate, (25-)30-50(-100) x 10-20(-35) mm, obtuse or rounded, dorsiventrally flattened and scarcely convex on both surfaces, with sharp horny margins, glabrous, rarely velvety, green but often yellowish green with reddish margins, rarely becoming reddish brown.

 

Inflorescence  an elongated thyrse with flowers loosely arranged on part-inflorescences.

 

Flowers : Sepals oblong-triangular, 2-3 mm long, with spreading hairs and marginal cilia, fleshy, green, corolla tubular to almost cylindrical, fused basally for 0.6-0.8 mm, cream, petals panduriform, 3.5-4.5 mm long, with ovoid dorsal appendage in terminal position.

Cytology : 2n = 28

 

Note :

Tölken writes that anthers are black, the illustrations by Dillenius and Trew suggest rather yellow than black anthers.

Distribution : Province du Cap, depuis les environs de Ladismith jusqu'à Queenstown et East London ; dans un petit nombre de localités du sud du Natal.

 

 

Description (selon Tölken, 1985) :

 

Feuilles oblancéolées à cultrées, (25-)30-50(-100) x 10-20(-35) mm, obtuses ou arrondies, aplaties dessus dessous et à peine convexes sur les deux faces, marges tranchantes, glabres, rarement veloutées, vertes mais souvent vert jaunâtre avec marges rougeâtres, devenant rarement marron-rouge. 

 

Inflorescence : Un thyrse allongé avec fleurs arrangées de façon lâche sur une partie de l'inflorescence.

 

Fleurs : Sépales oblongs-triangulaires, 2-3 mm de long, avec poils écartés et cils marginaux, charnus, verts, corolle tubulaire à presque cylindrique, soudée à la base sur 0,6-0,8 mm, crème, pétales panduriformes, 3,5-4,5 mm de long, avec appendice dorsal ovoïde en position terminale.

Cytologie : 2n = 28

 

Note :

Tölken écrit que les anthères sont noires, les illustrations de Dillenius et Trew suggèrent des anthères plutôt jaunes que noires.
