SEDIFLORA var. SEDIFLORA

Synonym : Crassula tenuifolia  Schönland (1897)

Distribution : SA (KwaZulu-Natal to Eastern Cape); shallow rocky soil or rock faces.

 

Description (according to E. van Jaarsveld in IHSP, 2003) :

Decumbent branched perennials to 40 cm tall, internodes 4 - 15 mm.

Leaves 4 - 25 x 1 - 4 mm, linear, leaf pairs spirally arranged, flattened, slightly papillose, green to yellowish-green, margin papillate becoming smooth, tip acute.

Inflorescences erect terminal round-topped thyrses with 1 to many dichasia, bracts leaf-like becoming shorter upwards.

Flowers shortly pedicellate, laxly arranged, sepals to 2 mm, broadly triangular, glabrous, corolla tubular, cream to white to 3 mm, petals oblong-oblanceolate, to 2.5 mm, fused shortly at the base, tips rounded and slightly cucullate, recurved, anthers yellow.

Flowering time : Mid-summer to autumn.
