Distribution : Central and northern Afghanistan, adjacent Turkmenistan and Tadzhikistan, 1100 - 2300 m.
Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :
Caudex massive, 1 - 4.5 cm in diameter, turbinate to turnip-shaped with several long thickened taproots.
Rosettes flattish, 3 - 11 cm in diameter, normally solitary.
Leaves oblong-truncate to spatulate, 1.7 - 4.5 cm, broadest near apex, base normally dilatated, glabrous, very fleshy.(papery thin and pale ochre when dry); margins finely serrulate.
Inflorescences lateral richly branched stout panicles, 10 - 30 cm, with helicoid branches in the upper ½ – ¾ , glabrous or with occasional short glandular hairs.
Flowers 6- to 7-merous, broadly funnel-shaped, glabrous, petals 4.5 - 5.8 mm, united for 1/8 – 1/6, brownish-green to greenish-white, apex mucronate, carpels slender to massive.
