Distribution : Eastern and south-eastern Turkey, central and northern Iran,  Armenia,  Azerbaidzhan; 900 - 2500 m.

 

 

Description (according to U. Eggli in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Caudex mostly well-developed, 0.6 - 1.5 cm in diameter.

 

Rosette flattish, 2 - 6 cm in diameter, solitary or offsetting.

 

Leaves oblong and truncate, or spatulate with rounded or emarginate apex, dark vivid green, glossy or dull, 1.8 - 6 cm, young densely glandular-hairy and viscid, old subglabrous with glandular-hairy margin.

 

Inflorescences lateral paniculate thyrses with up to 25 flowers, upper 1/2 completely glandular-hairy and viscid, drooping in bud.

 

Flowers 5-merous, narrowly funnelshaped, 0.8 - 1.1 cm, outside glandular-hairy, petals united for 3/5 (rarely less to 1/3), pink with purplish-pink venation.

Cytology : 2n = 18, 36

 

Intermediates with ssp. persica and ssp. libanotica are known.
