Distribution : USA (California : San Luis Obispo County); serpentine rocks, 120 – 300 m, not frequent.
Differs from ssp. abramsii :
Stems 10 – 30 mm in diameter.
Rosettes in groups of > 10, few- to much-branched.
Leaves oblong to lanceolate, 3 – 11 x 0.7 – 2 cm, ± glaucous.
Inflorescence : Scape 5 – 25 cm.
Flowers : Corolla 4 – 6 mm, petals 9 – 14 x 3 – 3.5 mm, entirely violet-spotted, keel violet, tube 1.5 – 3 mm.
