Description (by M. Kimnach in IHSP 2003) :
Staggly sparsely-branched minutely muriculate-papillose shrubs with stems to 90 cm and 6 – 14 mm thick.
Leaves subrosulate, spatulate to rhomboid-spatulate, apiculate, 2.5 – 8 x 1 – 3 cm, 1.5 – 3 mm thick, green, reddened along margins ant at tip.
Inflorescences : 1 – 2 per stem, spicate, 25 – 70 cm, axis reddish ; pedicels lacking or to 2 mm.
Flowers : Sepals erect and appressed against the corolla, 7 - 11 mm, papillose, reddish-green, corolla gaping, 11 – 16 mm long, 6 – 12 mm in diameter near the middle, white tinged reddish.
Cytology : n = 17

Buisson modérément ramifié et finement muriculé-papilleux, avec tiges atteignant 90 cm et 6 – 14 mm d'épaisseur.
Feuilles presque en rosette, spatulées à losangées-spatulées, apiculées 2,5 – 8 x 1 – 3 cm, 1,5 – 3 mm d'épaisseur, vertes, rougies le long des marges et à l'extrémité.
Inflorescences : 1 – 2 par tige, en épi, 25 – 70 cm, l'axe rougeâtre, pédicelles absents ou atteignant 2 mm.
Fleurs : Sépales dressés et appliqués contre la corolle, 7 - 11 mm, papilleux, vert rougeâtre, corolle béante, 11 – 16 mm de long, 6 – 12 mm de diamètre au milieu, blanche teintée de rougeâtre.
