Distribution : Mongolia, North China.

 

 

Description (by H. Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Rootstock thickened, with thick tuberous roots.

 

Flowering stems 8 - 15 cm.

 

Leaves altemate, shortly petiolate or sessile, oblanceolate or linear-oblanceolate, 1.2 - 3 cm x 3 - 7 mm, tip triangular, base attenuate, margins crenate with few scattered teeth or entire.

 

Inflorescence terminal, flattish, 3 - 5 cm in diameter.

 

Flowers pedicellate, sepals linear-lanceolate or triangular, 5 - 6 mm, petals white or pinkish, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, 4 – 5 mm, widely spreading, Stamens as long as the petals or shorter, anthers purple-red.

 

Flowering time : July to August.

Cytology : 2n = 20
