Distribution: Russia (eastern Siberia, Ussuri).

 

 

Description (by H.Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Flowering stems ascending, 10 - 60 cm tall, with thick rootstock.

 

Leaves opposite but sometimes alternate in the lower parts, petiolate, very broadly ovate to orbicular, 3 - 5 x 3 - 5 cm, glaucous, pale green, tip round to truncate, base cordate, margins somewhat undulate.

 

Inflorescence corymb-like, globose.

 

Flowers: Sepals triangular- ovate, ± l.3 mm, petals purple, narrowly oblong, 3 - 4 mm, spreading, stamens slightly longer than the petals, anthers reddish-orange.

 

Flowering time : August to September.

Cytology : 2n = 48
