Distribution : SE Madagascar

 

 

Description (according to B. Descoings in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Small trees to 8 m tall, trunk simple below, to 10 cm in diameter, branched above.

 

Branches generally ternate, terminal branches 5 – 10 cm, ± fleshy, glabrous.

 

Leaves ternate or ± alternate, petiolate, thick, fleshy, glabrous, petiole terete, 1.5 – 3 cm, lamina suborbicular, obovate to spatulate, 1.5 – 4 x 1 – 3 cm, tip rounded, base attenuate, margins entire.

 

Inflorescence corymbiform to pyramidal, 2 – 6 cm wide, peduncle 5 – 10 cm, glabrous, pedicels 1 – 2 cm.

 

Flowers erect to pendent, glabrous, calyx green, tube ± 4 mm, sepals deltoid, acute, 4 – 5 x ± 6 mm, corolla thick ,fleshy, pale green, sometimes with minute pale purple spots inside, tube 4-angled, ± 9 x ± 8 mm, petals oblong-deltoid, acute, ± 8 mm.
