Figueiredo & Smith, Friedrich Welwitsch and his overlooked contributions to the Flora of Tropical Africa, Phytotaxa 458(1): 83-100, 2020, discuss at length the specimens referring to Kalanchoe glandulosa var. benguelensis Engler and end up with designating BM649710 as neotype. However they err. According to Murray, 1904, the types of all species collected by Welwitsch, listed in Hiern's Catalogue of 1896, are at BM. So there is no question that BM649710 is the holotype and not a neotype.
