Distribution : Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife); 20 - 2500 m.

Description (by R. Nyffeler in IHSP 2003) :

Perennial, solitary or sometimes offsetting rosette plants.

Stems short and stout (± caudiciform) or slightly to distinctly elongate, 5 - 12 mm in diameter.

Rosettes loose or rather compact, flat, 7 - 35 mm in diameter, with ≤ 60 leaves.

Leaves 5 - 18 x 3 - 6 mm, 1 - 2 mm thick, narrowly obovate, acute, attenuate into a narrow base, glabrous or with few very short glandular hairs (≤ 0.05 mm) near the base, slightly papillose above.

Inflorescences as lateral, simple or branched flowering shoots, evenly branched, pedicels 4 - 10 mm, glandular-hairy (hairs ≤ 0.3 mm).

Flowers 6- to 7-merous, 3 - 4 mm in diameter, petals 2.3 - 3.7 x 0.5 - 0.7, oblong and occasionally somewhat widened in the upper part, acute or mucronate, pale yellow and generally slightly striped with red, filaments free, pale yellow to light red, anthers before dehiscence typically violet brown, rarely deep yellow or even yellow white.

Flowering time : April - May.

Plante vivace solitaire ou produisant parfois des rosettes.

Tiges courtes et épaisses (± caudiciformes) ou plus ou moins allongées, 5 - 12 mm de diamètre.

Rosette lâche ou plutôt compacte, plate, 7 - 35 mm de diamètre, avec ≤ 60 feuilles.

Feuilles 5 - 18 x 3 - 6 mm, 1 - 2 mm d'épaisseur, étroitement obovales, aiguës, rétrécies en une base étroite, glabres ou avec peu de poils glandulifères très courts (≤ 0,05 mm) près de la base, légèrement papilleuses dessus.

Inflorescences en rejets latéraux florifères, simples ou ramifiés, et ramifiés de façon équitable, pédicelles de 4 - 10 mm, avec poils glandulifères ≤ 0,3 mm.

Fleurs hexa- ou heptamères, 3 - 4 mm de diamètre, pétales 2,3 - 3,7 x 0,5 - 0,7, oblongs et parfois quelque peu élargis dans la partie supérieure, aigus à mucronés, jaune pâle et d'ordinaire légèrement striés rouge, filaments libres, jaune pâle, anthères avant la déhiscence typiquement marron violet, rarement jaune foncé ou même jaune blanc.
