PARADISUM ssp. PARADISUM

Distribution : Endemic to Shasta and Trinity Counties, California, at elevations of (235-) 1605 - 2005 m, on rocky slopes, ridges, outcrops and cliffs, the underlying bedrock usually not serpentine.

Description by Denton in Brittonia 1978 :

Perennial, glabrous and slightly glaucous.

Stem erect, 10 - 18 cm tall.

Leaves of basal rosette obovate, 2 - 4 times longer than wide, 10 - 33 mm long, 4 - 11 mm wide.

Cauline leaves obovate, 2 - 4.5 times longer than wide, 9 - 19 mm long, 4 - 5 mm wide.

Sepals (3.5-) 4.5 - 6 mm long, 1.2 - 2 mm wide, apex attenuate or acute, petals 8 - 10 mm long, 2.2 - 3 mm wide, cream-coloured, connate 1.8 - 3 mm at the base, anthers yellow, riddish brown or brown.
