Distribution : Uzbekistan, Mongolia, China (Xinjiang); below 3200 m.

Description (according to H. Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

Dioecious, to 17 cm tall. 

Rhizomes massive, ± 1 - 2 cm in diameter with few remains of old flowering stems.

Flowering stems numerous, 2 - 4 mm in diameter.

Leaves densely arranged throughout, elliptic, 10 - 15 x 3 - 5 mm, pale green, tip obtuse, base cuneate, margin conspicuously dentate.

Inflorescences dense, many-flowered, compact, 2 - 2.5 cm in diameter, pedicels 3 - 5 mm.

FIowers yellow, 4- or 5-merous, ± 4 mm long, stamens longer than the petals, anthers yellow.

Flowering time : June - July.
