Distribution : Southern Korea (incl. Cheju-do).

 

Description (by H.Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Flowering stems erect, 20 - 60 cm.

 

Leaves alternate, opposite or in whorls of 3, sometimes varying on the same individual, sessile,  broadly oblong to broadly elliptic or ovate, 2 - 5 x 1.5 - 3 cm, dark green, upper face bluish-glaucous, tip subacute, base rounded, margins serrate with 4 - 6 teeth on each side, or nearly entire.

 

Inflorescence terminal and axillary, dense, many-flowered, pedicels 2 - 4 mm.

 

Flowers 8 – 9 mm in diameter, sepals triangular, 1 - 1.5 mm, petals greenish, lanceolate, 4 - 5 mm, spreading, stamens as long as the petals or slightly shorter, anthers red.

 

Flowering time : August to September.

Cytology : 2n = 24
