Distribution : Russia (eastern Siberia, Sakhalin, Kurile Islands, Kamtshatka), northern China, Korea, Japan.
Description (by H.Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :
Flowering stems erect (or rarely ascending), 30 - 80 cm.
Leaves in whorls of 3 (rarely 4 or 5) or opposite, elliptic to narrowly ovate to broadly lanceolate, 3 - 10 x 1.5 - 3 cm, lower face whitish-green, tip subacute, margins sparsely serrate, petiole 2 – 10 mm.
Inflorescences compound corymbose, large, pedicels glabrous.
Flowers : Sepals triangular-ovate, ± 1mm, petals pale yellowish-green to pale green, broadly oblanceolate, ± 4 mm, stamens as long as the petals or slightly longer, anthers pale yellow or rarely dark reddish-brown.
Flowering time : August to September.
Cytology : n = 48 (Uhl & Moran 1972); 2n = 22, 46, 92 (Funamoto & Yuasa 1986).
