Distribution : Mexico (Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt : Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla); southern slopes.
Description (by 't Hart & Bleij in IHSP 2003) :
Perennial shrubs with stout stems with papery flaking bark and papillose twiglets.
Leaves alternate,elliptic-linear or -oblong, acute, sometimes oblanceolate-oblong and obtuse, rarely subemarginate, subterete, finely papillose marginally, 14 - 58 x 3 - 9 mm.
Inflorescences cymes with 2 or more branches, laxly paniculate.
Flowers 5- (to 6-) merous, sessile or subsessile, sepals basally free, shortly spurred, unequal, oblong, obtuse, green, 2.1 - 4.1 x 0.8 - 1.2 mm, erect, petals free near to the base, lanceolate to suboblong, subobtuse to acute, mucronate, carinate, white, with pale green or pink keel, ± 6.5 mm, spreading, anthers red, subglobose.
Cytology : 2n = 60
