Description (by 't Hart & Bleij in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Perennial herbs with numerous tufted stems, 0.5 – 1 cm.

 

Leaves alternate, densely imbricate, shortly spurred or obtuse to slightly lobate, broadly oblanceolate, acuminate with divergent tip, bright green or silver-grey when dry, (2-) 4 – 6 mm.

 

Flowering branches few, 1 – 2 cm.

 

Inflorescences 1- or 2-flowered, bracts mostly 2 per flower, leaf-like.

 

Flowers 5- to 7-merous, sepals broadly sessile, oblanceolate to oblong, long acuminate, slightly narrowed at the base, 4 – 4.5 mm, petals free at the base, subovate, long apiculate, narrowed towards the tip, narrowly unguiculate almost to the middle, yellow, 6 – 6.5 mm, nectar scales broadly linear, widening towards the tip, slightly emarginate, pale when dry, styles short, seeds subovoid, smooth, probably reticulate.
