Distribution : Throughout the area of the species. This is the dominant form in southern, central and south-eastern Europe and Anatolia, rare in northern Africa and the western Mediterranean region.

 

 

Leaves decussate (rarely with some non-flowering shoots with alternate leaves), semiterete to subterete, ovate to elliptic or obovate, glabrous or glandular-pubescent, but hairs not conspicuously white and coarse. Flowering branches terminal.
