Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :

 

Shrublets to 22 cm (excluding inflorescence).

 

Stem unbranched 4.5 - 5.5 mm in diameter, decumbent to erect or pendent, greyish, with apical rosette.

 

Leaves densely arranged, narrowly lanceolate to ensiform, 1.5 - 6.5 cm x 2.5 - 5.5 mm, pointed, dorsally canaliculate, glabrous but slightly farinose when young, olive-green.

 

Inflorescence 16 - 33 cm, spikes or basally paniculate, bracts narrowly lanceolate, 1.5 - 2.5 cm, pointed.

 

Flowers 6 - 8 mm in diameter, sepals and petals farinose, petals glaucous-purplish-red.

 

Similar in size to T. mixtecana, which branches, however, and has different leaves.
