Description (according to IHSP, 2003) :
Herbs.
Roots fusiformly thickened.
Stems short-lived, deciduous to almost the short woody-persistent base, basally few-branched, 5 - 30 cm, green.
Leaves narrowly linear, acute to obtuse, upper face flat, lower face convex, spurred, 10 - 25 mm, glaucous.
Inflorescences dense spikes or thyrses, 2 - 13 cm, with 8 - 35 branches with up to 6 flowers each (mostly fewer), pedicels absent or short (to 1.5 mm).
Flowers : Corolla cup-shaped, sepals almost spreading to erect-spreading, acute to obtuse, somewhat unequal, the longer to 5 mm, petals dorsally keeled, ± 6 mm, white, tips spreading to recurved, acute, subapically somewhat aristate.
Cytology : n = 16
