Etymology : for the occurrence in the region Kashgaria, Xinjiang, China.

 

Distribution : Kazakhstan, China (south-western Xinjiang), rocks, 2600 - 3200 m. 

 

 

Description (by H. Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Dioecious, to 8 cm tall.

 

Rhizomes massive, with the remains of old flowering stems.

 

Flowering stems divergent, 0.5 - 1 mm in diameter, glabrous.

 

Leaves spreading, sessile, oblong to linear-lanceolate, 3 - 10 x 1 - 2 mm, glabrous, tip obtuse, base attenuate, margin entire.

 

Inflorescences 15- to 20-flowered, compact or rather lax, 0.5 - 1 cm in diameter.

 

FIowers shortly pedicellate, sepals linear, 2 - 3 mm, petals oblong-lanceolate, 3 - 4 mm,stamens

nearly as long as the petals, anthers yellow.

 

Flowering time : June to July.
