Description (by H. Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :
Hermaphrodite, 10 - 30 cm taIl.
Rhizome subcylindrical, 6 - 10 mm in diameter, upper part branched.
Flowering stems 3 - 5, papillate.
Leaves spreading, densely arranged, sessile, narrowly eIliptic or lanceolate, 10 - 45 x 6 - 15 mm, glabrous, tip round, base long cuneate to attenuate, margin 5- or 7-lobulate or remotely crenate-serrate.
Inflorescences 6- to 15-flowered, pedicels 1 - 6.5 mm, papillate.
Flowers : Calyx 5 - 7 mm, glabrous, sepals linear to linear-subulate, 4 - 5.5 mm, petals white, narrowly eIliptic or narrowly lanceolate, entire, 8 - 15 mm, stamens as long as the petals, anthers dark purplish-red, nectar scales oblong, 0.9 - 1.2 mm, yellow, carpels 12 - 18 mm, tapering, each with 14 - 24 ovules.
Flowering time : August and September.
