Distribution : SA (Western Cape), Fynbos, shade rocky cliffs.

 

Description (according to E. van Jaarsveld in IHSP, 2003) :

Perennial mat-forming branched herbs with persistent leaves.

Roots fibrous.

Branches prostrate, wiry, rooting at the nodes, young branches with recurved hairs.

Leaves obovate-elliptic to circular, 3 - 6 x 3 - 4 mm, subdistichous, flat, glabrous, green, becoming reddish in the dry season, margin ciliate, tips obtuse.

Inflorescences thyrses with several dichasia, peduncle indistinct.

Flowers : Sepals to 2 mm, oblong-triangular, hairy, margin ciliate, tips obtuse, corolla tubular, white to cream, petals oblanceolate-elliptic, to 3.5 mm, shortly fused at the base, tips acute with subterminal apical appendage, anthers yellow.

Flowering time : Mid-summer to autumn.
