SEMPERVIVUM ssp. PESTALOZZAE  (Boissier) Eggli, 1988

Synonyms :

Umbilicus pestalozzae  Boissier (1872) / Rosularia sempervivum var. pestalozzae (Boissier) Thiébaut (1940) / Cotyledon pestalozzae  (Boissier) Bornmüller (1941) / Rosularia pestalozzae  (Boissier) Samuelsson & Fröderström (1960)

 

 Distribution : Southern Turkey, adjacent north-western Syria; on limestone, 1000 - 2300 m.

 

 

Description (according to U. Eggli in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Differs from ssp. glaucophylla:

Leaves medium green, never glaucous, glandular-hairy and ± viscid.

 

Inflorescences glandular-hairy in the upper half.

Cytology : 2n = 36

The two taxa ssp. glaucophylla and ssp. pestalozzae form a closely-related pair, differing from the remainder of the R. sempervivum-aggregate in their smallish flowers.
