Etymology : The word "nuda" = naked  refers to the shortness of the bracts of the inflorescence as compared to those of E. coccinea.

 

Distribution : Mexico (Puebla, Veracruz)

Description (by M. Kimnach in IHSP 2003) :


Plants glabrous, to 50 cm tall or more, stem 6 – 10 mm in diameter, branching.

 

Rosette 5 – 9 cm in diameter.


Leaves semirosulate, obovate, cuneate, obtuse, mucronate, 2.5 – 5 x 1.8 – 3 cm, 3 – 4 mm thick, dull green, at first slightly glaucous, sometimes with a purplish margin.


Inflorescences  racemes, 15 – 45 cm, pedicels nearly horizontal, 2 – 3 mm.


Flowers : Sepals widely spreading, 6 – 12 mm, corolla 10 – 12 x 7 – 9 mm in diameter at the base, the lower part red, yellow above.


Cytology : n = 24

Plantes glabres, 50 cm de haut ou plus, tige de 6 – 10 mm de diamètre, ramifiée.

 

Rosette 5 – 9 cm de diamètre.


Feuilles en semi-rosette, obovales, cunées, obtuses, mucronées, 2,5 – 5 x 1,8 – 3 cm, 3 – 4 mm d'épaisseur, vert terne, d'abord légèrement glauques, parfois avec une marge violacée.


Inflorescences en racèmes, 15 – 45 cm, pédicelles presque horizontaux, 2 – 3 mm.


Fleurs : Sépales largement écartés, 6 – 12 mm, corolle 10 – 12 x 7 – 9 mm de diamètre à la base, la partie inférieure rouge, jaune en haut.


Cytologie : n = 24
