Rubella ‘루벨라’  De Smet

Origin and breeder unknown. Named by Louis de Smet and published in De Smet's Catalogue suppl. nr. 10, p.2, 1878 as a species : 

"Forme entièrement nouvelle dans les Echeveria; il ne serait guère possible de lui donner une parallèle. Espèce caulescente, feuilles très nombreuses, charnues, assez grandes, rhomboïdes et concave, fortement canaliculées, entièrement tortillées, se terminant en pointe allongée, donnant à la plante un cachet extrordinaire.

Le coloris des feuilles est aussi tout nouveau ! vert noirâtre; rose-pourpre au revers ! 

Le plus grand avenir est assuré è cette magnifique plante."

"A completely new shape in genus Echeveria; very unlikely to find a similar plant. Caulescent species, leaves very numerous, fleshy, fairly large, rhombic and concave, strongly canaliculate, entirely twined, acuminate, making the plant very extraordinary. The colour of the leaves is also totally new, blackish-green and purplish-rose on the back side."
