NODULOSA 'Painted Beauty' (engl./ fr.)

Distributed as ISI 1137 in 1979 and described thus : „It soon forms an imposing specimen 1‘ or more high, with leaves two to four times larger than the typical form and with conspicuous, highly coloured purplish red stripes. ... collected on rocks in moss and on trunks of trees in Oaxaca.”

Note :

Very often, plants with this name are not this cultivar but simply the species E. nodulosa which is highly variable concerning the size of leaves and stems as well as the colour of the leaves. The cultivar ‘Painted Beauty’ will easily be recognized by its much larger leaves.

Note :

Comparison of E. nodulosa (in the littlel pot) and E. nodulosa 'Painted Beauty'.

Very thick stemmed and more than a foot tall this specimen matches well the ISI description. At left Gasteria excelsa which is one of the biggest gasterias.
