Blue Elf

The parentage is indicated as Sedum x Orostachys. Unfortunately the breeder has ignored that the "Sedum" he has used in fact is a species of genus Hylotelephium, so the correct parentage is Hylotelephium x Orostachys. And unfortunately the "experts" he has contacted did not know either how the name of a nothogenus (hybrid genus) has to be formed to correspond to the rules of the Code (Art. H.6.2) : It has to be the first part or whole of one name & the second part of the other. He however has combined the first part of both. Moreover he has published the name only on his website - to be valid such a name has to be published in a printed journal with an ISSN or an ISBN number.
That means the name "xSedoro 'Blue Elf' " is invalid in all respects.
The fact that it has been possible to create a hybrid of these two genera is not a surprise, DNA data show that Hylotelephium and Orostachys are closely related.
Meanwhile the nothogenus name for this intergeneric hybrid has been published in Sedum Society Newsletter 121: 62, April 2017 :
x Hylostachys J.M.H.Shaw nothogen. nov. = Hylotelephium Ohba x Orostachys Fischer.

Malheureusement le producteur a ignoré que le "Sedum" qu'il a utilisé en fait est une espèce du genre Hylotelephium, la parenté de son hybride est donc Hylotelephium x Orostachys. Et malheureusement les "experts" qu'il a contactés ignoraient comment créer le nom d'un nothogenus ( hybride genus) - selon le Code (Art. H.6.2) il faut la première part ou l'entier d'un des noms & la deuxième part de l'autre nom. Par contre il a combiné la première part des deux noms ! ! ! En outre il a publié le nom seulement son son site - afin qu'un tel nom soit valide il faut être publié dans un journal imprimé avec un numéro ISSN ou ISBN.
Bref - le nom "xSedoro 'Blue Elf' " est invalide sous tous les rapports.
Le fait qu'il a été possible de créer un hybride de ces deux genres n'est pas surprenant, DNA data indique que Hylotelephium et Orostachys sont très voisins.
