Distribution : Russia (northern and central UraI Mts.); dry stony slopes and rocks.

 

 

Description (by H.Ohba in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Perennial glabrous herbs with annual flowering stems.

 

Roots tuberous or fasciculate, rhizome robust, thick, 2.5 - 3 cm in diameter, erect, ± 15 cm long, branched towards the tip.

 

Flowering branches numerous, 35 - 50 cm, 5 - 8 mm in diameter near the base.

 

Leaves lanceolate, 2.5 - 5 cm, shortly petiolate or subsessile, crenate, obtuse.

 

Inflorescences compound, racemose-paniculate, with short lateral branches in the axil of the upper leaves.

 

Flowers 5-merous, corolla 4.5 - 5 mm in diameter, petals first greenish, later pink, narrowly lanceolate, acute, stamens longer than the petals.

 

Flowering time : July to August.
