Distribution : N Madagascar (Ambilobe).

 

 

Description (according to B. Descoings in IHSP, 2003) :

 

Annuals (?) to 30 cm tall or more.

 

Stems simple, terete, slender.

 

Leaves unknown.

 

Inflorescences globose cymes, glabrous, 4 - 8 cm in diameter, without peduncle, pedicels terete, broadened below the flowers, 4 - 6 mm.

 

FIowers oriented in various directions, glabrous, calyx purple, tube 0.2 - 0.3 mm, sepals lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, tip cuneate-acute, 9 - 10 x 3 - 4 mm, corolla tubularly

4-angled, purple, often greenish or whitish towards the base, tube square in cross-section, slightly widened at the base, 17 - 20 mm, petals lanceolate to obovate-lanceolate, obtusely apiculate, 7 - 8 x 4 - 5.5 mm, upper stamens inserted at the base of the corolla lobes or towards the top of the corolla tube, lower stamens inserted 4 - 5 mm below the others.

 

Only known from a herbarium specimen without leaves.
