Distribution : SA (south of Ladismith, in a few localities south of Laingsburg to near Muiskraal, growing usually with rock outcrops).

Description (according to E. van Jaarsveld in IHSP, 2003) :

Differs from ssp. tomentosa: to 25 cm tall, usually less branched, lower branches with brown peeling bark.

Leaves oblong to oblanceolate, slightly flattened to almost terete, 5 – 8 x 1,5 – 2,5 cm, margin entire, tip acute, mucronate.

Inflorescences to 15 cm, peduncle to 14 cm, 5 – 6 mm in diameter at the base.

Flowers pendulous to spreading, corolla tubular, slightly narrowing towards the throat, 18 mm, corolla tube light orange to yellowish tinged orange, 12 x 9 mm in diameter at the base, petals 8 mm, recurved, stamens exserted for 3 and 6 mm respectively, anthers yellow, 1,5 in diameter, flattened.

Distribution: Afrique du Sud (sud de Ladismith, en quelques endroits au sud de Laingsburg, près de Muiskraal, poussant sur des affleurements rocheux).

Description (selon E. van Jaarsveld dans IHSP, 2003):

Diffère de la ssp. tomentosa par sa hauteur de 25 cm, par une ramification moindre, et des branches basales à l'écorce marron écaillée.

Feuilles oblongues à oblancéolées, légèrement aplaties à presque cylindriques, 5 – 8 x 1,5 – 2,5 cm, marges entières, extrémité pointue, mucronée.

Inflorescences de 15 cm, pédoncule de 14 cm, 5 – 6 mm de diamètre à la base.

Fleurs pendantes à diffuses, corolle tubulaire se rétrécissant légèrement vers la gorge, 18 mm, tube de la corolle orange à jaunâtre teinté d'orange, 12 x 9 mm de diamètre à la base, pétales 8 mm, recourbés, étamines sortant respectivement de 3 et 6 mm, anthères jaunes 1,5 mm de diamètre, aplaties.

Période de floraison : juillet-septembre.
