Distribution: South Africa (Eastern Cape), growing on sheer cliff faces of the lower Kei River.

 

Description :

A rock-hugging cremnophyte forming dense woody mats to 150 mm high.

Stems 3 - 5 mm thick, at first green, becoming greyish-brown.

Leaves 30 - 45 x 17 - 27 mm, gradually smaller upwards, obovate, margin conspicuously reddish, ascending-spreading, often symmetrically arranged, internodes short, 8 mm.

Inflorescence : Peduncle 20 mm.

Flowers : Sepals 4 x 4 mm, triangular, corolla tube cyllindrical, 25 mm long, fused for 22 mm, slightly bulging in the middle, petals 28 x 6 mm, linear-lanceolate, orange-red.

Flowering time : December - January.
